For the first 7
days of an illness you simply
complete your own self certificate
form (SC1 SC2) which can be obtained
from your work place or from
reception at the surgery.
If your work requires a doctor’s
certificate for the first 7 days of
an illness this is nothing to do
with the NHS and a standard charge
applies, currently £13 for a private
certificate.
If you are going into hospital for a
routine operation, or attend
casualty and obviously have to be
signed off for a certain period of
time the hospital doctor can give
you a certificate at that time.
There is no need to attend the
surgery for a certificate.
